On Nov. 5, faithful from around the diocese will begin a 33-day consecration to Mary based on the writings of St. Louis de Montfort, True Devotion to Mary.
What is Consecration to the protection of Mary? Consecration is a way to devote ourselves more fully, and to commit ourselves to renewed faith in God through Mary. It is a way to focus on praying in a special and fervent way to Mary for special protection for our diocese.
In consecrating our diocese to Mary, we remember the words she said at Cana: “Do whatever he tells you.”
How do we consecrate our diocese to Mary? St. Louis de Montfort established a prayer of consecration to Mary that entails special daily prayers for 33 days leading up to consecration. The first 12 days of prayer focus on freeing ourselves from a worldly focus. The next three weeks focus each on the devotion of knowledge of ourselves, the Blessed Virgin and Jesus Christ, respectively.
We will be consecrating the diocese to the protection of Mary on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on Dec. 8. To do so, we began the consecration on Nov. 5. Even if you haven’t yet participated, you can jump in and begin the prayers with us.
PRAYERS WILL BE POSTEDDAILY ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGEAND ON OUR WEBSITE ATDIOKZOO.ORG/MARY
